Chaired by former Home Secretary and Education Secretary, Lord Blunkett, The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland brings together the most influential figures from across the country. It celebrates the hard work and achievements of the nation’s unsung leaders, while laying the ground for the next generation. The Council is currently talking to leadership figures from across the nation in an attempt to understand how leaders are dealing with the exceptional challenges we are living through today.
Andrew Nugée, Imagineear and Imagineear Health’s Founder and CEO, was invited onto an episode of the podcast, which also included an interview with Lord Blunkett. Host Matthew O’Neill asked both guests a series of questions about leadership and the role it has played in their careers to date.
In the podcast episode, Andrew talks about how covid-19 has affected the business and the plan the leadership team put in place to steer the company through the crisis. He gives thought to how the company will operate in the long term, including changes in communication methods ie. Zoom, and the sudden increase in employees working from home. Crucially, Matthew also asks Andrew about what leadership means to him and what he considers his leadership style to be.
‘Although I have been leading businesses for the last quarter century, I rarely take a step back to ask myself about successful leadership’, commented Andrew Nugée. ‘This is a fascinating, varied series, and it was a timely moment to take stock and assess how my own leadership style measures up to the high standards we all aspire to.’
Lord Blunkett, chairman of The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said, ‘I think the most informative element of each episode is the first part, where Matthew O’Neill is able to sit down with someone who really gets how their industry works and knows how to make their organisation tick. Someone who’s there day in day out working hard and inspiring others. That’s what leadership is all about.’
