The latest NHS Local Maternity System (LMS) to licence the award-winning Mum & Baby app, developed by Imagineear and free to download for new mums in the area, is the Suffolk and North East Essex LMS, with more LMSs poised to join.
Mum & Baby gives women and their families NHS curated and clinically-evidenced guidance and information on pregnancy, birth and beyond and is personalised to include their due date, appointments, personal care plans.
When NHS LMSs join the app, their users can also see profiles of all maternity units in their area including how far away it is, self-referral links and transport information, essential contacts and other local information such as birth registration, children’s centres, volunteering, local research projects and how to donate to the charities of their local NHS hospital trust.
Doctor Sunita Sharma, Consultant Obstetrician from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the app’s originator said:
“The Mum & Baby app represents an innovative way to provide women and their families with consistent NHS information on how to look after themselves and their babies in an easily accessible format. I think this is great step forward for our maternity services”.

The app’s considerable generic content is continuously reviewed and updated by a clinical panel at NHS North West London LMS, who with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS FT’s charity CW+ and Imagineear are partners in the app’s design, production, development and support.
