29th May 2020 | ORCHA’S COVID-19 Health App Formulary to include Imagineear app

As the number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to rise across the globe and governments ask people to stay at home, digital health resources offer practical tools that can be called upon for remote self-management.

To help healthcare professionals and consumers know which health apps they can trust, the Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Apps (ORCHA) has launched a health app formulary. The site is a free to use resource and includes reviews of health apps across a range of health conditions relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic. Imagineear is extremely proud that Mum & Baby has been selected to be featured in the formulary.

The award-winning app has recently been updated to include information on the latest official advice for pregnant women and new mothers during the Coronavirus crisis and can access up-to-the-minute, clinically-reliable information as soon as it is approved by Public Health England. Two additional buttons have been added to the app’s home page with details of the latest advice for pregnant women and advice for infant feeding.

The app can be updated with any new information that comes from Public Health England in a matter of minutes, making it another very useful source of reliable, official information for expectant women and new mothers during the crisis. With restrictions and changes being made the whole time to the maternity journey due to the virus, more new content, videos and advice are being prepared on a daily basis.

“The advantage of apps in disseminating key information to a large target audience, is the ability to respond speedily to change, particularly with something as potentially worrying for pregnant women and new mothers as COVID-19. Thousands of pregnant women and new mums in England use our app and to have quick access to topical advice is not only reassuring for them but can take pressure off maternity units and GPs in these difficult times.”

Julia Laflin, Head of Healthcare at Imagineear

Mum & Baby, which is free to download for iOS and Android, is a digital resource designed to offer reliable, NHS clinically approved information for new mothers and their partners and received an ORCHA rating of 82%, making it one of its highest rated pregnancy app, and has been downloaded more than 50,000 times.
